WE HONOR C. DAVID EVANS
January 13, 2026, marks 20 years since the passing of our husband, father, son, nephew, cousin, family, friend and coach. I wanted to take this time to reflect on his amazing legacy.
He was around for the iPod but missed the creation of the IPhone and all of the stuff that came as a result of that invention. That man loved his Blackberry. Nope, cryptocurrency wasn’t a thing either. He didn’t know that Barack Obama was going to be president- an intelligent, kind, good looking family man just like David.
His joy, Carla, will now be 24 this month and her accomplishments are vast, and he would be so proud. He would also be honored by all of the people who worked with him who are still sharing their lessons and stories from “Dave” with others. The Bike MS rides still continue, and nearly $200K collected under my watch because of his initial connection with the MS Society. Either Carla or I have ridden (or both) since Dave bought Celeste her bike in 1995.
The C. David Evans Scholarship continues to grow, touching lives similar to lives David had touched and impacted.
We miss him but celebrate David with all that he has left for us. We will continue to engage in those things by simply asking ourselves- “ what would Dave do?”
I leave you with these related lyrics from my favorite song from Wicked that reminds me of David’s time in this land …
I heard it say that people come into our lives for a reason bringing something we must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them…but I know I’m who I am today because I knew you.
